HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This course applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

Important Information Prior to Enrolment

COURSE DELIVERY OPTIONS

  1. Face to face in the workplace (9 hours approx.)

  2. Both online and face to face in the workplace (7 hours approx.)

  3. Predominantly online with a face to face workplace assessment (1 hour approx.)

COST

Course cost starting from $170.00 per person.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

CERTIFICATE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

Certificates will require renewal after 3 years.
